::ABOUT::

Pseudopia Studios is an independent film production company devoted to producing high quality film content both professionally and as grandiose amateurs. Co-founded in Seattle by Alex Davis-Lawrence and Case Lovell in 2005, we began with a simple goal: to produce as much film as we could, purely in our free time and with no budget whatsoever. Over time, we developed more ambition and more resources, and Alex now leads Pseudopia as a (vaguely) professional independent film production company. We offer a variety of professional media services in the field of film production, including producing, directing, writing, shooting, and editing for both film and new media products.

Alex, the current head of Pseudopia Studios, is a student at Amherst College majoring in English/Film and American Studies. He has worked as a producer, writer, and video editor on a number of non-Pseudopia professional media projects, and has shot and directed several his own short films both on commission and for festival entry/internet distribution under the Pseudopia label.

'Pseudopia' comes from Greek roots, and means "false sight." It is used to refer to people who have visions, and is loosely associated with a medical condition. You can view our complete collection of film via the 'Film' link above, or view a smaller selection in our DIGITAL PORTFOLIO, and decide for yourself whether the name has any meaning.
