Perspectives of Amherst is a is a new media project that presents a constantly changing community-built portrait of Amherst College. Twenty videos, randomly selected from a large archive on each refresh, come together in unexpected ways, creating unique and new perspectives of the Amherst environment.
Any member of the Amherst College community may upload a video clip which, once moderated for appropriate content, is added to the clip archive for circulation.
The video collage invites the viewer to see Amherst in a different light, taking a second look at that which they see every day--or a first look at something new. It also explores the relationship between image and space, the possibilities of film as a non-narrative device, and the ways in which private images interact to create a public vision of place.
